Is the 2018 Grinch little kid friendly? Parent review with no spoilers…

–Is it appropriate for a younger audience?: Yes! In this momma’s opinion the original animated cartoon is still slightly more kid friendly. However, I would absolutely feel comfortable showing the new grinch movie to little kids and grandparents alike! Plus, this version really captures the heart of the original story so well and generally leaves me with more warm, holiday, fuzzies than the live action movie does. This will be a repeat in our house every holiday season. While this was obviously directed towards children, I feel like it can be a holiday classic that adults and kids can love and watch together!
–Story and Acting: really thought the voice casting was amazingly on point! I’ve heard people complain that the Grinch is too good and goofy, but I think that it was absolutely on point. This adaption seemed to have a lot more nods to the original book and the original cartoon than the live action one. From the color scheme to the whimsical world of Whoville. There were only a very few omissions and they did not bother me much at all. The only thing I really missed was a classical version of the Grinch song. I teared up at the end even though I knew what was coming!!! Masterfully done!!!!
Also, Please sign me up to get some of the Grinch’s cleaning gadgets… amazing.
-Animation: I personally really enjoyed this animation style. It feels like a realistic dreamland. It’s a 3D computer animated style that aimed for whimsical and yet, realistic. It looks just as pretty on the small screen at home as it did in theaters.
This version is toddler and grandparent approved!
